Is public transport included in my Brussels Card?

Public transport is only included if you have bought a « Brussels Card + STIB ». When you have a « Brussels Card + STIB », you can travel free by STIB bus, tram and metro for 24, 48 or 72 hours.
If you have a standard Brussels Card public transport is not included.

Is train travel included in my Brussels Card?

No, your Brussels Card doesn’t get you onto SNCB trains (or the train link between the national airport and the centre). However if you’d still like to travel by train, you can buy train tickets in stations, including the station at the airport. All the information you need can be found at http://www.belgianrail.be/en.

Where can I buy a Brussels Card?

  • Purchase your Brussels Card at one of the visit.brussels tourist offices: Grand Place : daily from 9 am till 5.45 pm - closed on 25/12 and 01/01 || Mont des Arts (BIP) : Monday-Friday from 9 am till 5.45 pm - closed on 25/12 & 1/1.
  • You can also purchase it at the Toerisme Vlaanderen tourist office: Rue Marché aux Herbes 61 - 1000 Brussels (opened daily: April-September: 10h-18h, October-March: 10h-17h; weekends and bank holidays: closed between 13h-14h; closed on 25/12 and 1/1).
  • Or at the following museums: Autoworld, Belgian Centre for Comic Strip Art, Old Masters Museum, Natural Sciences Museum, MOOF.

How can I buy the Brussels Card online?

Buying a Brussels Card online takes just a few clicks of your mouse. Click on the small ‘BUY’ cart in the menu bar below and indicate which type of card you’d like to buy and how many. After entering your surname, first name and email address and making the payment (by American Express, Visa or Mastercard), you’ll receive a confirmation email with a link so that you can download your Brussels Card. The PDF that you download is your Brussels Card! You’re not obliged to exchange the voucher. When you visit a museum, all you have to do is show the voucher and, once its barcode is scanned, you can visit the museum for free.

If you’d also like to enjoy discounts in the restaurants, bars and stores included in the Brussels Card offer, all you have to do is print off the discount voucher (and hand them over when you use the discount). To print off the discount voucher, click on the second link that appears in the confirmation email sent to you when you buy your Brussels Card.

How long is my Brussels Card valid for?

Your Brussels Card is valid for 24, 48 or 72 hours after your first museum visit. For example, if you visit your first museum with a 24-hour card on a Saturday at 10am, you can use your card until 9.59am the following day (Sunday) (you can still enter your last museum at 9.59am). You must use your Brussels Card for the first time within a year of its purchase date. Attention : when using your card in the next calendar year, you should take into account that the list of museums and discounts might have changed! The list of museums and discounts is updated every 1st of January.

How do I obtain discounts in restaurants and shops?

To enjoy the discounts on offer, just show the discount vouchers featured at the end of the Brussels Card guide or the voucher that you downloaded and printed off when you purchased the card online.

How do I use the Hop on-Hop off bus?

You need to have a “Brussels Card + Hop on Hop off”. Show your Brussels Card to the driver when you get on the bus. Keep your card because you’ll still need it when you visit the museums!

How do I use the public transport?

Your Brussels Card can’t be used as a transport ticket. Go to one of STIB’s 375 GO ticket machines (located in all metro stations and at major bus and tram stops), select “EVENT PASS” on the machine’s screen and enter the numbers printed on your Brussels Card. The ticket that comes out of the machine is the only valid form of transport ticket! You must validate your ticket on every bus, tram or metro train every time you use it.
