In Beethoven's Fidelio, we witness the story of Leonore who, disguising herself as a man, goes to prison in an attempt to free her beloved husband from the clutches of Pisaro, who wants to have him executed. In this semi-concert version, director David Bobée wants to focus on Leonore's courage and the strength of women in general. Following Gounod's La Nonne Sanglante, he will be working with Laurence Equilbey and the Insula Orchestra for the second time. Together, they will translate the righteousness and deep-rooted idea of freedom of Beethoven's only opera in a convincing audiovisual manner.
