From Malcolm X to Lumumba, from slam poetry to contemporary classical music: through his acting and directing work, Pitcho Womba Konga, one of the faces of the KVS, questions what we know or what we think we know of the world.

His first play, Kuzikiliza, received a warm welcome from the press and the audience. In his second creation, he draws his inspiration from James Baldwin, and more specifically from his non-fiction book The Fire Next Time. How can we make sure our inner flame continues to burn while we try to extinguish the fires around us?

I’m from a generation of ghosts, a generation on a long quest for crowns and a throne. According to a strange legend, before the dismay was a time when we were kings but where are our palaces? Who are these people who seized them? Did we become invisible for protection or by exclusion? Drowned as so many drops of water in the ocean, in the end we doubt ourselves too much. Swaying between our multiple identities and the clichés, who knows who we truly are? Or rather, who truly wants to know us without cheating? - Pitcho Womba Konga
