With such composers as Louis Couperin, d’Anglebert and Chambonnières, an influential French harpsichord school arose in the late 17th century. The Pièces de clavecin were quintessentially French with their free style and rich ornamentation. However, the musical languages of France and Italy  – the trendsetters in Baroque music – became increasingly intertwined. We are familiar with Jean-François Dandrieu through his music for solo keyboard, but Le Consort has also unearthed his unpublished Triosonates, op. 1. It's easy to find parallels here with the well-structured Triosonates, op. 1 by Arcangelo Corelli, the great source of Dandrieu's inspiration. A sparkling, fresh Italian-flavoured programme with an ensemble that always gives you the feeling that you are in your own living room for a private concert. The linchpin of the ensemble is the young, authentic keyboard master Justin Taylor, who enjoyed success last year as a BOZAR 'Portrait artist'.Listen to the playlist "Early Music" on Spotify
