SEE Festival

Come and sample the cultural wealth of South-Eastern Europe during the See Festival: five days of music, discussions and cinema devoted to the contemporary cultures of South-Eastern Europe; off the beaten track and away from clichés. SEE is an acronym which stands for South-Eastern Europe, but the name is also an invitation to change the way in which we see this region, often locked into a folkloric and geographically isolated perspective. Such reflections prompt us to take into consideration cultures that do not claim to be Balkan, or that even reject the connection, but which are touched by diverse influences integral to the region.
From Jordi Savall’s Bal∙Kan project to Singer of Tales by Bosnian musician Damir Imamović (produced by Joe Boyd), from the comeback of Moğollar, a cult Turkish psychedelic band, to the composite jazz of Echoes of Zoo: on display is a different vision of South-Eastern Europe – open, adventurous, pioneering and modern; with a fierce desire to bring together musicians from here and elsewhere in a joyful, fertile, inventive and forward-looking fusion. Let’s See!
