This church, in the eclectic style, combines neo-Byzantine elements with neo-Romanesque and neo-Gothic references. In 1849, the architect Louis Van Overstraeten died aged 30. It was Gustave Hansotte who completed the project in 1853. It was the first time that a cupola was made in gilded bronze with a metal framework. Its powerful octagonal silhouette and the dome dominate the view from the rue Royale. Prettily lit in the evenings.
