A Sunday in Flagey

A Sunday in Flagey

Located in the heart of Ixelles, the Flagey neighbourhood is a cosmopolitan crossroads as well as a real cultural centre where you can enjoy the good life.

A lively neighbourhood, Flagey offers magnificent areas for walks and a festive atmosphere both day and night. The surrounding streets have many cafes, restaurants and local shops that give the neighbourhood its vibrant character. Brunch, aperitifs, waterside walks, architectural discoveries and concerts are just some of the activities you can experience like a Brussels resident.

  • 10:30 - Honour tradition

To start the day off right, Flagey Market has a tradition of welcoming Brussels oyster lovers with a small glass of white wine. The atmosphere is local and relaxed. For those who wish to eat on site, small shops offer quality street food. And for those who want to take their time, head to La Petite Production for brunch.

    11:00 – Time for brunch

To kick off a day of discoveries, it is recommended to make sure you have enough fuel to last the whole day. And on a Sunday, that means brunch! La Petite Production offers timeless brunches made from pancakes, yoghurt/granola, poached eggs, or French toast. If you wish, you can take a detour to Place Fernand Coq to eat at Café Tulipant, the terrace perfectly exposed to the sun welcomes you for a colourful brunch.

    13:00 - Petite promenade digestive

Head for La Cambre Abbey via the Ixelles ponds for a digestive walk. Take the opportunity to admire the splendid Art Nouveau and Art Deco houses. For those who want to sit on deckchairs, make your way to the Gisèle Ginguette at the entrance to the Abbey. Depending on the programme, you can enjoy small concerts, or participate in a pétanque tournament.

16:00 - Have an ice cream

It's the perfect time for an ice cream, so walk, scooter or take a bus along the ponds in the other direction to enjoy an ice cream at Capoue. This is your opportunity to get closer to your evening destination. Sit down by the water, on a bench or on Place Flagey, as soon as the sun comes out, there's no end of ideal spots to settle down.

    18:00 – It’s time for an aperitif!

One of the area’s best places for an evening drink is Chez Ta Mère, a trendy cocktail bar with a little terrace. It's special feature: it has some of its cocktails on tap! If you're craving something salty to nibble, there's plenty to snack on. Artists are regularly invited for a small concert.

    20:00 – Delicious street food

Journey thanks to the oriental cuisine of My Tannour with its Syrian speciality: grilled halloumi pancakes baked in a Tannour (large terracotta wood oven). You may be queuing up a little bit, but this cultural spectacle is worth a visit. For pizza lovers, head to the CŎCĪNA Aperitivo Bar & Pizzeria which is run by first generation Italians.

    21:00 – A drink at café Belga

Café Belga is undoubtedly the festive meeting place of choice for Brussels residents in the Flagey neighbourhood. Even on Sundays, you will find people there having a drink. Open until the wee hours, it is the ideal place to end your weekend in style.
