Between June and October 2020, visit.brussels and the Brussels-Capital Region developed various support funds totalling €5 million to help the events sector.
These funds had an impact as far afield as the USA. The Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) might be based in Illinois, but it recently chose to host its next international conference in Brussels in 2023. The capital of Europe is an ideal place to meet scientists, policy makers and stakeholders of the European life sciences community.
SLAS was awarded €50,000 for the rental of the Brussels Expo event venue. This means that, in 2023, our capital will host more than a thousand researchers from academia, drug research and technological development in Europe and around the world, who will come to exchange their knowledge.
“Getting support from Brussels allows SLAS to focus its resources on providing the best scientific content and speakers and living up to its mission of transforming research by building links with the European life sciences community” explains Vicki L. Loise, CEO of the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening.
