Discover Brussels’ romantic side

Is Brussels romantic? Of course it is! Love is in the air in Brussels on Valentine's Day - and all year round too - as you take a romantic journey for two through the capital's lovely streets and alleyways, go for a bite to eat in an enchanting restaurant, wander through the shops in search of that perfect gift, declare your love in a breathtaking or intimate setting, or watch stunning animated films about love!

Whether you're single or you've found the one, Brussels is the perfect place to celebrate Valentine's Day. On this special day its impossible to feel lonely in the hustle and bustle of the capital city and couples get the chance to enjoy a wonderful day together, away from the maddening crowds.

  • Especially for Valentine's Day!

  • Already a favourite with couples and singles (aged over 18, of course!): for Valentine's Day, animated film festival Anima Crazy Love is showing fourteen short films about love and everything that goes with it: emotions, misunderstandings and sex.

The BELvue Museum also has a little extra for couples to celebrate Saint Valentine's Day: a torch-lit visit in a pitch black museum! And did you know that Brussels has a Heart Museum and a Museum of Erotics and Mythology, which has an inspiring collection or erotic art? On 11 February you can enjoy the Love Bugs Parade and its gorgeous VW Beetles. And why not wander hand-in-hand through the Garden of the Heart at the Van Buuren Museum?

  • Tips for a romantic stroll

  • Stroll through Brussels hand-in-hand and enjoy each other's company, what more do you need? Enjoy the impressive panoramic view of the city centre from the Place Poelaert/Poelaertplein: take the lift and you'll find yourself in the Marolles, where atmosphere, delightful little shops and restaurant await. From there you can walk to the Sablon and pick up a box or two of Brussels pralines from one of the many Brussels chocolatiers that surround the square.

Don't feel lie walking? Don't worry, this is the perfect opportunity to explore Brussels on one of Cyclo's tandem bicycles... or in a horse-drawn carriage!

  • The city's romantic spots

  • Of course you could explore one of the city's shopping districts together and plan for your future. Or is this the perfect moment to invest in a jewel or another expression of your love. You'll find a whole host of shops in Brussels that offer all sorts of original, authentic and fun things.

Celebrate your llove and let yourself go in one of our capital's many spas. Book a romantic Valentine's Day meal in one of Brussels restaurants. The Hard Rock Café has created special Valentine's Day menus with romantic names that you can share just like the Lady and the Tramp. You might choose the very appropriate L'amour Fou, or the spectacular romantic decor of a treehouse (La cabane du fou chantant), a tram (Tram Experience) or (seventh?) heaven itself (La Villa in the Sky)!

  • Brussels has so much to offer romantics that you can never see, do and experience everything on Valentine's Day. So there really is only one thing for it: come and celebrate your love in Brussels all year round!
