You’re never too young to learn about Victor Horta and Art Nouveau!  

Kids

1. Tracing the footsteps of Victor Horta" (courses for children)  

  • From 2 to 5 January (4-day course): Horta & Design – ADAM (Brussels Design Museum) 
  • From 12 to 16 February: Horta & Free Plan – CIVA 
  • From 9 to 13 April: Horta & Nature – CIVA 
  • Summer: Horta & Stonework – CIVA 

During school holidays, these courses give children the chance to explore the work of Victor Horta from different angles: from the free plan of his buildings to the furniture and to the carved stonework which he designed drawing on nature, his great source of inspiration. The programme includes exploring the archives, taking interactive guided tours and building architectural models.

    Belgian school holidays: Halloween, Carnival, Easter, first fortnight of July.

    A fun tour for all the family adapted to every age group, taking visitors on a proactive journey to discover the extraordinary house and wonderful world of Victor Horta. After the tour there will be a creative workshop giving everyone the chance to produce a piece of artwork inspired by nature and Art Nouveau.

    2. Discovery tour from the Horta Museum to CIVA

    From January 2018

    A games and activity booklet will guide the family on their way to discover the Art Nouveau houses that line the route between the Horta Museum and Fondation CIVA. With games, anecdotes, puzzles and short descriptions, this self-guided tour provides the essential information for enjoying the façades along the way between these two museums, whichever end you start at.

    3. Art Nouveau or Art Deco? 

    Booklets will be handed out during the family weekend of the Brussels Art Nouveau & Art Deco Festival 2018, on 17 and 18 March 2018. 

    Art Nouveau or Art Deco? This family walk takes you through the neighbourhood of the ponds in Ixelles to actively discover the differences between the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles and their respective nuances. For children, this is a chance to observe, play and answer questions, while parents get to tell the story of the neighbourhood's houses.

    5. Art nouveau - children admitted

    Sunday 24 June 2018 

    This family event takes young and old to discover the district of Victor Horta. An outdoor walk marked out with prestigious architectural achievements, which allows you to see and experience Art Nouveau in a fun way.
