Tuesday, 5th February 2019, the Embassy of Belgium in the UK and visit.brussels Association Bureau invited participants to meet experts such as the association management company Interel, Koan Law Firm, and Group S Payroll Office.
The Federation of International Associations based in Belgium (FAIB) were also present to explain how they contribute to the empowerment of international associations in Brussels.
Brussels is the European Hub for international associations.
Indeed, the attractiveness of Belgium for these is undeniable with over 2.300 of them already present in Brussels or nearby, thanks to a longstanding regulatory background and the position of Brussels as an international centre.
A revision of the Belgian Law for companies and associations is underway to modernise the existing legal framework for associations and the specific international association status. Moreover, changes have been introduced to Belgian labour legislation facilitating the hiring of new employees and to lower tax on small entities.
The changes aim at rendering Belgium attractive to international associations, charities and NGOs based in the UK which are considering setting up an office in Brussels.
visit.brussels is active in the United Kingdom, promoting Brussels for association and corporate clients for their meetings and congresses, as well as for the annual event for international associations the European Association Summit.
These are the main topics that have been discussed:
- Empowering international associations in Brussels
- Legal aspects for establishing a presence in Belgium
- Hiring in Belgium: incentives for Associations
- 3 Simple Steps to Remaining European: How to find the right Brexit solutionfor your association
