Sustainable September in Brussels

Throughout the month of September, Brussels will be organising a whole host of fun, green, sustainable, and sporting events. Come and enjoy a breath of fresh air and make the most of what our sustainable city has to offer...

On foot or by bike, by bus or on roller skates… the capital of Europe will be moving differently this autumn.

  • Ecotrail - 09/09/2017

    Brussels hosts the Ecotrail, to the delight of sports lovers. An XXL convivial “nature” marathon of 80 km. This year, the start is at the Atomium, with the finish line at the Bois la Cambre (at the old Boitsfort hippodrome). At the beginning the trail uses a large portion of the Promenade Verte, before heading into the Sonian Forest for the last 40 km.

  • Jardins en Fête - 10/09/2017

    The private gardens are celebrated during Jardins en Fête. 40 extraordinary gardens are opened to the general public. The owners and passionate guides invite you to discover the charms of these “secret gardens” in Brussels!

  • Heritage Days - 16-17/09/2017

    Do you want to discover the capital’s gems? This year, the Heritage Days theme is Nature in the city. The parks, gardens and squares of the Brussels-Capital Region are honoured, with a particular focus on the relationship between architecture and nature. Numerous activities await you throughout the weekend: routes to walk or cycle, discovering the city’s flora and fauna, bus tours, exhibitions…explore Brussels’ communes.

  • Roller Bike Parade - Tot 15/09/2017

    Are you a keen roller skater or cyclist? Then why not join us every Friday evening for the Roller Bike Parade. It’s a superb, perfectly safe itinerary, along streets usually reserved for cars. The route starts (7 pm) and finishes at place Poelaert (by the Palace of Justice).

  • Mobility week - 16>22/09/2017

    September also brings with it Mobility Week. It’s the perfect opportunity for you to try out various sustainable modes of transport in the city. It’s also a great chance to change your habits, or reinforce good resolutions! As capital of Europe, Brussels sets the example by favouring soft mobility for a whole week.

  • Car-Free Sunday - 17/09/2017

    Car-Free Sunday, this sacred day of the year that transforms the city and makes it look like the countryside. For one day only, Brussels dedicates itself to walks and strolls, encounters and discoveries of all natures. And to make sure everyone can make the most of the day in the best way possible, the STIB transport agency network is completely free.

    Bike Brussels invites you to Tour & Taxis for this festival centred around cycling and active mobility.
    What to look forward to: quality exhibitors, seminars and conferences, the possibility to try out bicycles indoors and outdoors, an area for children, the "Bike Brussels Awards", and a whole host of activities… it’s not to be missed!
