From 1st to 7th July, Brussels is the hosting the Grand Départ of the 2019 Tour de France, the third most viewed sporting event in the world, after the Olympic Games and the Football World Cup.
This is the second time the “Grand Départ” will take place in Brussels; the first was in 1958, the year of the Universal Exposition.
The event this year has a very special appeal for the European capital, as it is not only celebrating the 50th anniversary of Eddy Merckx's first victory, but also 100 years of the “yellow jersey”.
