Enjoy Brussels with your family this winter!

In winter, Brussels is the ideal destination for a city trip with the family. There are plenty of activities for parents travelling with their children.

At this time of year, between Christmas markets, city walks, exhibitions, shows and brunches, you won’t have time to get bored! Not sure where to start? Don’t worry! We’ve put together a mini guide, specially designed for busy days with your whole family.

For those visiting the city in December to celebrate the holiday season, the capital is pulling out all the stops to amaze and delight you. Make the most of the Winter Wonders – experience the Parade on 29 November and take your children on the merry-go-rounds or the Big Wheel before hitting the ice rink!

  • Things to do – while staying warm!

Want to enjoy the magic of the snow and ice and stay nice and warm?! Then why not pay a visit to the Museum of Natural Sciences and the Antarctica exhibition! In the mood to visit other museums? Then head to Train World where a temporary exhibition dedicated to Paul Delvaux awaits you. Then visit the Children’s Museum, the capital’s must-see attraction dedicated to the little ones. Still not had your fill of museums? Then how about the Wolf, ADAM or the MOOF? Here you will find plenty of colourful and entertaining creations! And why not take advantage of your visit to Brussels with your children to take a peek inside the wardrobe of the capital’s smallest hero? You can also take a special guided tour for families to discover the works of Bruegel!

  • Shows and activities for children

If staying indoors in the warmth and enjoying a play is more your thing, then the BARAK Festival or Christmas at the Theatre are both great options. Are you more into films and cartoons? Then the Anima Festival is for you!

Don't forget to check the programme of theatres and cultural centres near you, there are always activities planned for children! More information is available here and on agenda.brussels.

  • Great spots to recharge your batteries

After all those adventures, nothing beats taking a bit of time out in a cosy, child-friendly café. Try Lloyd Café Presse, a café with a playroom that caters to parents AND children! Or La Fabrique en Ville, Chicago Café, Dînette or La Fabbrica – family favourites that we know you’ll love! And if you need to satisfy your sweet tooth, make sure you pay a visit to Coco Donut, Chouconut or Charli. Cookies, donuts, cupcakes and delicious pastries à la carte.
