Art Nouveau in Schaerbeek and in the squarres

14/10/2017 - 14/10/2017

Between 1850 and 1900, Schaerbeek was literally bursting at the seams as the result of a population explosion. Completely new districts arose along stately avenues lined with elegant buildings in a very short time. Contests entice architects to outdo each other in terms of originality and daring. We will view all kinds of buildings (including by Strauven, Jacobs, Horta and Taelemans) in the charming Square district, the preferred area of the bourgeoisie around the turn of the century.
