BARBARA – Hommage à la longue dame brune : Femme-passion, femme-piano, femme-départ, femme-lune

24/11/2017 - 24/11/2017

Two inseparable sisters, “twins”, one of whom was born four years before the other. Sophie on the keyboard, Valérie on the mic. They also use vocal harmony.

Classically trained, they have sung in the Namur symphonic choir for several years, under the baton of leaders like Ivan Fischer and Louis Langrée. As part of the choir they have recorded several CDs, including Ishango, the African oratory by Daniel Schell and Chris Joris (with Tam' Echo Tam). They are also choristers or soloists in opera productions (produced by Gérard Corbiau, Folon) and operettas (La Camera Lirica). Valérie also has classical dance training and Sophie chamber music and percussion training.

Thanks to Barbara, whose career profoundly affected them, they decided to try their hand at cabaret. Lovers of their “3 Bs”, Barbara, Brel and Brassens, together they present a repertoire of classic French songs. Sophie's intimate piano and Valérie's passionate voice will be heard in over 100 cabaret concerts in the Capital and the Provinces. A few songs also emerge, from the heart and the fingertips...

They also dance the Bharata Natyam, a classic dance from Southern India, which they studied in Chennai with an Indian master, P.T. Narendran, who they met at Maurice Béjart's school in Lausanne.
