Der letzte Mann (Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, 1924, DE, 86', ZW, stil)

21/09/2017 - 21/09/2017

The doorman of the Grand Atlantic Hôtel is an important man who is admired by all. One day, the management of the luxurious establishment, considers him too old for the position and gives him the job of cleaning the toilets instead. Henceforth he has to put up with the mockeries of his friends, neighbours and society. For this screening, Franco-Swiss composer Karol Beffa specially wrote a score for the Brussels Philharmonic and the organ in the Centre for Fine Arts. With its multiple registers, its intensity and versatility, the recently restored organ is perfect for the soundtrack to this film. The new organ in the Henry Le Bœuf Hall and its myriad registers, pitch and versatility lend themselves perfectly to a film's original soundtrack. UFA Film Nights offer you the opportunity to hear this instrument accompanying the screening of the German silent film classic, The Silent Laugh by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau. Especially for this occasion, the Franco-Swiss composer Karol Beffa has written a score for the Brussels Philharmonic and BOZAR. This is set to be one of the most compelling BOZAR film concert experiences ever.
