Grand-Place, the Sablon, Royal quarter, etc. This walk recounts Brussels and its role in European history. Since its foundation, Brussels has played a major role in European history and has been influenced by various cultures. Your guide will take you on a tour of the medieval heart of the city: from Saint Géry square to the Saint Catherine neighbourhood and the ancient port where merchants from all over Europe once met; from the superb Grand Place to the sumptuous Royal Saint Hubert Galleries, one of the oldest passages in Europe, where Jean Neuhaus invented our famous Belgian pralines in 1912. Your guide will recount a host of anecdotes about the city and its inhabitants, legends about Manneken Pis, Brussels' most famous “Ketje”. You will discover why our famous delicious biscuit is called “Pain à la Grecque”; you will learn about the importance of our beers, brewed since the Middle-Ages; about chocolate and the must-try dishes of our traditional cuisine (waterzooi, rabbit stewed in beer, endives “au gratin”, etc.).
