History has a way of repeating itself and this is also true in music. There is a very lively retro rock scene in Germany right now and one of the main exponents of this back-to-basics movement is Berlin-based Kadavar. This trio of giants – literally – has been touring Europe’s finest rock clubs in recent years and is working its way up with appearances at major outdoor festivals. With an output of four albums in just six years’ time and a hectic touring schedule, Kadavar are highly prolific and this kind of intensity pays dividends in terms of quality. Their new album ‘Rough Times‘ (2017) was recorded in their own studio with a warm analogue sound quality that sounds much more organic than some of today’s hyped-up, overproduced releases.
