Leaves and herbs

Ancient places, new lifeblood _ let yourself be charmed by three gardens associated with three historic examples of Anderlecht’s heritage. The medicinal garden at Erasmus House and the interior courtyard at the Béguinage, renowned embodiments of the past, cosy up to “Bzinnentuin”, the new community vegetable garden. This was created in the spring of 2017 on the site of the former Vandepeereboom estate, today home to the Academie Beeldende Kunsten Anderlecht.
How can you combine art and nature in the urban space? How do you bring students and local residents together around a collaborative project? At all three sites, workshops and tours will reintroduce families to the magic and beauty of green spaces in the heart of the city.
- At the Academy site (Bzinnentuin): insect hotel creative workshop and bee drawing workshop; tours of the garden (French and Dutch);
- At Erasmus House: a guide will be on hand in the house; garden workshops: herbal tea tasting, distillation of essential oils and introduction to medicinal plants (French and Dutch);
- At the Béguinage: a guide will be on hand (French and Dutch);
- At the Bibliothèque de l’Espace Carème: workshop on how to make vegetable spread; bookstand _ the books will deal with themes such as gardening and cooking with garden produce (Saturday only). In French only.

A partnership between Erasmus House, the Academie Beeldende Kunsten and the Bibliothèque de l’Espace Carème.
