Few of Brussels' neighbourhoods have evolved as much in the lest few decades as the Quartier Léopold. Originally built for aristocrats and bourgeois families, the neighbourhood is known today for being home to the European Institutions. The evolution of the neighbourhood started with the signing of the Treaty of Rome and the creation of the European Economic Community. After many discussions, the majority of institutions set up their headquarters in Brussels.
