Lower city chic

The lower part of the city has always been its economic heart, thanks to the port of Brussels. The quays, the docks and the Senne were crawling with life and work. This neighbourhood grew naturally, stretching over new streets and alleys. It developped in stages. The worker's houses became apartments, warehouses and factories of the 19th century, which have, in turn, lost their grandeur. Today the warehouses and factories house art and design galleries or have been transformed into lofts. Gentrification can be chic, you just have to know how to dress it.
