Quatuor Ebène

24/11/2017 - 24/11/2017

The four young chaps in Quatuor Ebène are always up for a challenge. They play Haydn and Schumann as easily as Sting and the Beatles. In this concert, which roams through the night, the foursome strays from the beaten path. Quatuor Ebène begin by diving into the night with an intriguing piece entitled Ainsi la nuit by French composer Henri Dutilleux, one of the pinnacles for string quartets from the second half of the 20th century. The quartet stay with the night theme in their performance of Schönberg’s famed Verklärte Nacht. For this piece, in which the composer still tapped into a rich, romantic vein, the quartet broadens its ranks to introduce violinist Antoine Tamestit and cellist Antoine Lederlin. And all six stay on to finish off the concert with a couple of jazzy numbers!
