Sufi Night

21/10/2017 - 21/10/2017

BOZAR and the Moussem Nomadic Arts Centre are joining forces once again to offer you an evening focused on the diversity of spiritually elevating music from the Muslim world. The Pakistani singer Faiz Ali Faiz will be the distinguished guest during the latest version of this event. In 2006, this worthy successor to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was awarded the prestigious BBC Award for World Music, reflecting his personal yet traditionfriendly approach to the qawwalî. Against the background of Europalia Indonesia, we will be welcoming a Saman group, with dancers from the Indonesian province of Aceh, kneeling in rows to perform the celebrated “thousand hands dance”. Lastly, Noureddine Tahiri will be offering his interpretation of the samâ, the spiritual song specific to the Moroccan Sufi tradition.
