Between 2008 and 2011 the Hotel Dewez underwent a comprehensive restauration campaign. The facades’ neo-classical unity was repaired, the interior of the building with its salons, decorated with wooden paneling, wallpapers and other interior decorations was brought back to the situation at the end of the 18th century. Thus the architect Dewez’ vision on the building was restored. Now, for the first time, the museum presents a part of the collection of historic wallpapers which were found and restored during the restauration campaign. In this exhibition the emphasis lies on the neo-classical wallpapers but it also offers an historic overview of the different styles and trends with wallpapers dating from the late 18th century up to the late 20th century.
