Madame Chapeau

Welcome to Restaurant Madame Chapeau.

Madame Chapeau (Mrs Hat) in reference to the famous character in the 1938 play Bossemans & Coppenolle, a cult piece in Brussels’ cultural heritage, is a new concept that combines an eatery dedicated to traditional Belgian specialties with a gastronomic twist and a place to relax and enjoy daily entertainment such as one man shows, fashion brunches, DJ sets and concerts – a journey of musical discoveries with performances by talented Belgian artists.

Designed by Gautier De Baere gastronomic chef/owner of the acclaimed Sablon restaurant Pei & Mei, the menu offers up Belgian specialties such as the revisited and modernised Brussels stoemp and other dishes presented in a fun mix and match scenario. All this enhanced by a fine selection of wines and traditional Belgian beers that will immerse you in Brussels hedonism.

Design and decoration are the creation of interior designer Jade Vijt who has long worked on the Brussels scene with the renowned Michel Penneman.
Minimalist light oak furniture, smooth and rough bench-lined walls, neat fixtures embedded in a lattice ceiling and a stage, lead to an open kitchen where you can see the chef at work.
In short a perfect combination enabling both day time and evening activities to coexist in perfect harmony.
