Place du Grand Sablon

This veritable mecca of antique dealers is surrounded by former mansion houses and is always bustling. At weekends the atmosphere is particularly lively with its thriving Book and Antiques market. In the centre of the square there is the fountain of Minerva, built in 1751, as a symbol of the gratitude of Lord Bruce, the Count of Aylesbury and English peer, for the hospitality he received in Brussels.
