The Sonian Forest

The Sonian Forest plays a role of paramount importance in the life of the people of Brussels.A marvellous beech forest which in 1822 still covered 12,000 hectares. Today, alas, only a third of it remains. In the forest you will find: The Geographical Arboretum of Tervuren How to get there: N4, E411 (Namur) exit 2 (Jezus-Eik) / Kapucienendreef / Arboretumwandeling / Woudmeesterdreef Groenendael Arboretum How to get there: from the pont de Groenendael, take the direction of Duboislaan; then on the right Lange Staartdreef (Arboretumweg on the right). The Rouge Cloître site is one of the most interesting in the forest: 6 ha of dense trees, ponds, a restaurant, an art centre, etc...
