In a corrupt, greed-fueled world, a powerful alchemist leads a messianic character and seven materialistic figures to the Holy Mountain, where they hope to achieve enlightenment. Unanimously considered amongst fans of all strains of alternative pop culture the flamboyant cinematic masterpiece known as Alejandro Jodorowsky’s Holy Mountain can proudly claim, amongst all its other accolades, one of fantastique cinema’s greatest red herrings of all time. Jazz trumpeter Don Cherry co-composed the psychedelic soundtrack for Alejandro Jodorowsky's 1973 cult film The Holy Mountain alongside Ronald Frangipane and Jodorowsky himself. The soundtrack blends spiritual jazz, sitar folk, orchestral arrangements, primitive electronic sounds, and primordial chants to match the surreal imagery of the film. Cherry worked on the filmset while watching the footage and brought in a large group of diverse musicians to record the cues live-to-scene.
