You can visit Brussels in May and not explore this festival dedicated to contemporary creation. For three weeks, every year, the festival takes over some 20 theatres and art centres in the capital, as well as several of the city’s public venues. The programme includes stage performances and plastic arts by Belgian and international artists.
Each day the festival will present a show, a performance or a piece that will awaken your senses, widen your horizons and challenge what you’ve taken for granted.
Kermezzoo au Parc du Cinquantenaire (05/05 - 21/05/2017)
Kermezzoo is a festival devoted to humour. Its line-up includes the brand-new show Limbo, of which Madonna is a fan and offers a show that combines music, dance, cabaret and contemporary circus arts. Les Nuits Botanique (12/05 - 21/05/2017)
Les Nuits Botanique are probably one of the best musical events of the year in Brussels. Framed by the beauty and originality of the different concert halls, the festival above all makes sure to showcase and promote new Belgian and international productions. During this breath-taking festival, you can enjoy the best of pop, rock, hip-hop, and world music. Not to mention the aperitifs in the beautiful botanical gardens. Fête de l’Iris (06/05 et 07/05/2017)
It has become a tradition, every year on the first weekend of May the Brussels-Capital Region celebrates its anniversary with a festival and offers numerous free activities throughout the region.
Electro Night takes place on the Saturday on Place des Palais. On the Sunday, Brussels park will be taken over by circus performers, street theatre pieces, interactive games, dance demonstrations, activities for children and much more! From 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, Place des Palais will host several concerts.
D festival (30/05 - 10/06/2017)
Three Brussels theatres (Théâtre Marni, Les Tanneurs and Le Senghor) come together to offer you a month-long festival of contemporary dance. For its seventh year, D festival offers a programme of contemporary dance that brings together artists from numerous and rich horizons and disciplines. The choreographers for this edition each tackle, in their own way, question the different constitutive parts that make up our world and what it is to be human and how they interact.
