Greeters in Jette

The Brussels Greeters, eager to offer an introduction to Brussels, share their personal favourites and their favourite addresses and neighbourhood anecdotes every day. They’re proposing to veer off the beaten track and go meet residents in municipalities less well known to tourists.

Discover the far corners of Brussels and meet their residents. They’ll spend a few hours telling you about their neighbourhoods and the atmosphere in their local community.

  • Meet Jan– Music in Jette

Living in the district next to Jette and having grown up in Jette, Jan often goes to the district of his childhood for the music and for its musical attractions, like the Jette Philharmonic, the rock ‘n roll bar “Excelsior” and the “Jazz Jette June” evenings.

  • Meet Annabelle – This isn't a stroll

A resident of the Belgica district, Annabelle knows all about her street's history. Many Jews lived there who were then deported to Caserne Dossin, in Maline. She regularly walks through Ferdinand Lenoir street, which is named after a member of the resistance during the war. As a volunteer guide to Magritte's house in Jette, she has the opportunity to spend time in the house where the famous Magritte created most of his works and where he lived for twenty years.

  • Meet Luc – Trekking in Jette

Having lived in various Brussels municipalities, Jette remains, for Luc, the city's green lung. He loves to put on his walking shoes and have us follow him on one of his treks through Jette's green areas.

  • Meet Thomas – My little green village

Drama enthusiast and trumpeter in the Jette philharmonic orchestra, Thomas loves showing off his "little green village" by walking through Dieleghem wood and in the Roi Baudouin park, where the wooded areas border the marshy areas and sources of water. A cartoon fan, he then goes on to see the Boule et Bill roundabout and take in the Brugmann hospital, which was designed by the famous architect Victor Horta.

  • Reservations

Brussels has about a hundred Greeters available on request who are devoting some of their spare time to help you discover the Brussels-Capital Region through their eyes. All the Greeter experiences take place under the Greeters' Charter, which we invite you to read: Greeters Charter
