At the dawn of the Golden Sixties, the TBA Chair, crowned with the Signe d'Or in 1959, marks Christophe Gevers' entry into the world of design and interior design. Born in 1928, this self-taught craftsman stands out because of his use of raw materials that continue to embellish. Because of this particular polish, a signature for his work, he becomes the designer for plenty of interiors for either public spaces or private homes, during almost 30 years. From the Taverne des Beaux-Arts (1958) to the Quick at the Porte de Namur (1984) or even the Vieux Saint-Martin (1968), Christophe Gevers has a daring look that is still relevant today. From 1960 to 1993, he shares his expertise as the head of the « Mobilier et Agencement » course at l’Ecole de La Cambre,. The exhibition Gevers. From the matter to the object traces the course of a major figure of Belgian design of the 20th century.
