Jan-Wouter Van Gestel aka Tout Va Bien has always been a searching soul. He went from zero to hero: thanks to Studio Brussel’s De Nieuwe Lichting, he suddenly became a full-time musician – even though he had never played in a band.He was promptly signed by EMI and his version of Jacques Brel’s classic 'If You Go Away/Ne me quitte pas' was an instantly big success. His first album – recorded in Los Angeles with fellow countryman Styrofoam – earned him a solid radio hit in the form of 'This Fight' and a spot at Rock Werchter and Pukkelpop. Jan-Wouter quietly continued to experiment and surprised friend and foe with an electronic EP from which the songs 'Goodbye' and 'Queen of Sheeba' remained parked in the Studio Brussel playlists for weeks. Then things went quiet for a while, as Jan-Wouter travelled. The trip took a little longer than anticipated. Two weeks became two months. Two months became almost half a year. He found peace and inspiration on Lombok (Indonesia) and returned with 75 new songs. Songs with a theme: the search for a musical home.Jan-Wouter rediscovered his true musical self on the island, the uninhibited boy who entered a music competition and, to his own surprise, won it too. He knew he had to return to that place. 'Come a little closer' is Tout Va Bien’s second album and it takes you along in Jan-Wouter’s perpetual quest. A quest that was recorded with the assistance of Dutch super-producer Huub Reijnders.
