The La Monnaie Chorus is an institution: as old as La Monnaie itself, and with a personality that is as stately as it is rich. Our chorus singers master an impressive repertoire, play a vital role in our opera productions and, although onstage they can fade into the mass, they form a pool of talented performers. For this concert, chorus master Martino Faggiani composed an exclusive programme with rarely heard a cappella works for chorus. Janáček’s vitalist compositions, Liszt’s meditative intensity and the suggestive frugality of Karai and Dusapin give the assembled chorus members the opportunity to highlight their flexibility, power and depth.
