World-renowned Egyptian archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass was the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities and the first Minister of State for Antiquities in Egypt. He has written more than 40 popular and academic books and more than 150 scholarly articles. Some of his most notable discoveries include the tombs of the pyramid-builders at Giza, the Valley of the Golden Mummies at Bahariya Oasis and two pyramids of Khufu and Teti.Dr. Hawass’ dynamic personality and extensive knowledge have sparked global interest in ancient Egypt. In addition to seven honorary doctorates, Time Magazine chose him in 2006 as one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in the world. In 2017, he was named Ambassador for Peace and Cultural Heritage by the International Federation of Peace and Sustainable Development.During this lecture, Dr. Zahi Hawass will discuss historical, recent and future excavations and research, each defining key moments in the world of Egyptology.
