Balkan Project Music & Stories

05/10/2017 - 05/10/2017

The team of the “Kaléidoscope ASBL” presents the “Balkan Project”, a multidisciplinary spectacle that combines music, art and folk tales of the Balkan countries. The region of the Balkans, one of the most unique in the world, possesses a valuable and rich culture, full of music, dances, folk tales, different languages and religions. Its particular history over the last centuries, full of wars and conflicts, has contributed to this incredible variety of cultural material. Music and folk tales have always been at the center of the folklore of the Balkan people and have been transmitted orally from generation to generation. The musicians of the flute and guitar Duo have chosen a repertory of contemporary Balkan and American composers (Miroslav Tadic, Alan Thomas, Atanas Ourkouzounov, Boris Gaquere), that have been inspired by beautiful traditional melodies and dances of Serbia, Bulgaria, Croatia, etc.
Together with the expressive story teller Bernadette Heinrich, they accompany the public in a journey through traditional Balkan myths, folktales and legends, questioning the human fate and destiny.
