09:30 - Welcome

10:00 - Welcome speech by Mr Alain Mallart

10:15 - Key Note Speech from Patrick and Anne-Marie Demoucelle « Resilience in the face of adversity »

Everyone encounters set-backs in their lives. Well managed, these can "build" you, not "destroy" you. Drawing on 20 years in business coupled with the unexpected arrival of an incurable disease, the Demoucelles will share their experience from four perspectives: rediscovering your authenticity, answering existential questions, discovering the hidden side, and choosing to be positive. The Demoucelle couple founded the Demoucelle Charity Foundation, which raises funds for scientific research. The couple will take part in a book signing of their book 'Positif' and sale of chocolates.

12:00 - Lunch break

13:45 - Presentation of Action Parkinson

Action Parkinson has developed a new space for people with Parkinsons to meet, to exchange information about Parkinson's disease and take part in physical activities. The Flagey site is the result of a partnership with Born to Move, a team of physiotherapists in Flagey. Action Parkinson offers movement workshops such as soft gymnastics, Qi Gong, boxing, Nordic walking, and also organises thematic information sessions on the disease followed by round table discussion. Individual meetings are available by appointment, and early evening activities will be on offer for young people with Parkinson. The association also offers the option of cognitive games workshops. These various activities are offered on the basis of a weekly permanence schedule at the B2M centre, located rue Belvedere 27, 5th floor, 1050 Ixelles.

14:00 - Lecture by Dr. Jean-Emile Vanderheyden, neurologist : « What is good for Parkinson's? »

This presentation has a dual purpose: to better understand the disease, to develop current and medium-term perspectives via scientific research; and to review the practical aspects of therapeutic education and the benefits of complementary therapies.

Dr. Jean-Emile Vanderheyden is a neuropsychiatrist specialising in neurology. He has long been involved in the area of neurodegenerative pathologies and, more particularly, Parkinson's disease. For nearly 20 years now, Dr. Jean-Emile Vanderheyden has committed himself to writing books such as 'Deal with Parkinson' (1st and 2nd edition), ' Fifties Burnout', 'Dementia and cognitive loss', and lately' Sleep - Benefits and disorders'. He is also the editor-in-chief of the journal Neurone.

16:00 - Visit and activities at the B2M Sport centre (end 17:30)

People interested in becoming members of the Action Parkinson Association are invited to take part in two workshops based on the movement: one organized by Kinésiphilia and the other by Gymsana. The coordinators will be waiting for you at the B2M Sport Centre, 5th floor, rue du Belvédère in the Flagey building. To get there, follow the signs B2M via the lift to the 5th floor.
