Innovation as a Vector for Change for Public Service Broadcasters – The Big Data Project at RTBF
The rapidly changing consumption patterns force the players in the audiovisual industry to fundamentally rethink their strategy. Digital media grows, shakes the foundations of traditional media and blurs the boundaries between business areas. Public service broadcasters cannot remain on the sidelines; they must rely on their creativity and innovative capacity to make their way in the changing ecosystem. RTBF has made innovation one of the cornerstones of its new strategic plan, and sets itself an ambitious objective: address the challenges of modernity while remaining true to the founding values of public service. This is the very issue of its Big Data project, a collaborative initiative with innovative start-ups and sister organisations.
