Audacious New Project 2020

  • EXI(S)T, Photographic tour of Brussels (un)confined - La Fabrique des Regards
Project date: June to September 2020
EXI(S)T was originally an exhibition of contemporary Belgian photography in public spaces. The idea was to make art accessible to all by counteracting the trend of digitalisation. From June to September, the heart of the capital was literally invaded by countless images. Nearly 100 photographs by 50 photographers were displayed in a variety of cultural advertising spaces, replacing the traditional posters of events cancelled due to the public health crisis. Since December, the EXI(S)T works have also been distributed in book format free of charge in the streets, in book boxes and on railway station platforms. EXI(S)T offers an alternative artistic experience through the photographers' views of the current period.

  • We Exist / Made by Syrians. For Everyone. - We Exist
Project date: opened in October 2020
We Exist is an association created and managed by Syrians. The project was thought up in late 2016 with the goal of promoting Syria through its cuisine, its culture and its very engaged people. Over four years, the activities of We Exist grew. For this reason, the association opened a new space in October 2020 to enhance its activities. The goal is to establish a Syrian centre for culinary and cultural exchanges to facilitate the professional integration of people fleeing conflict and persecution, while promoting participation in socio-economic and cultural life. We Exist aims to demonstrate that everyone can be a part of society by making a contribution and applying their skills.

  • Saintklet Summer 2020 - Mentality VZW
Project date: late June to mid-September
Saintklet Summer is a concept mainly aimed at the reappropriation of public space. This project took place on the Quai des Péniches in central Brussels and welcomed over 4,000 visitors who came to make the most of the summer vibes. The programme? A musical and festive atmosphere with an open-air bar, DJ sets, concerts, workshops, talks and stand-up comedy. Everything was organised in compliance with health measures. This is how Saintklet, with the help of local institutions, hopes to play a crucial role in the development of the canal neighbourhood in Brussels. The team's goal is to continue to develop Saintklet and extend it along the entire length of the Quai des Péniches over the coming years.

  • KBR museum - KBR (Royal Library of Belgium)
    Project date: September 2020
The KBR museum, which opened in September 2020, reveals a treasure hidden in Belgium for 600 years. Six centuries ago, Brussels belonged to the rich and powerful Dukes of Burgundy. Skilled politicians and cultured patrons, they established a stirring treasure: an endlessly fascinating collection of manuscripts. With the opening of this new museum, KBR, the National Library, is continuing its strategy of opening up to a wide audience, both online and on site, and is asserting itself as key cultural hub in Brussels.

  • Mini bike adventure - Pro Velo
    Project dates: 15 and 16 August 2020
On the weekend of 15 and 16 August, Pro Velo took 20 Brussels residents on a journey through their own city. The group set off on a mini adventure: from cave exploration to a treetop adventure course via a tea ceremony at the Cauchie house, a private Sysmo concert and a boat trip with the bikes... They discovered a new side to Brussels on a bike through unique and quirky activities. The mini bike adventure in Brussels, a new concept launched in 2020, included one night in an environmentally and bike-friendly hotel and good organic and local meals, all led by Marc, the guide.
