Nancy Carfrae - Round Table Coordinator, UIA
Nancy coordinates the UIA Associations Round Table project: in 2020 this means the 8th Round Table Asia-Pacific, in Seoul in September, and the 14th Round Table Europe, in Prague in November. She also oversees the management of the UIA's associations and meetings databases, and the compilation of the annual International Meetings Statistics Report. She has presented the UIA's work to academics, civic councils, non-governmental associations, and intergovernmental bodies. Her knowledge of the UIA and its work is extensive.
Nancy joined the UIA in 1984 as editor and database manager of the Yearbook of International Organizations. Her first tasks as production manager were the 1986 edition of the Encyclopedia of World Problems and Human Potential and the 1988 International Association Statutes Series. She was Editor-in-Chief of the Who's Who in International Organizations project, compiled the World Guide to Religious and Spiritual Organizations, and initiated and led the World Guide to Logotypes, Emblems and Trademarks of International Organizations project.
Nancy was born and educated - she holds a degree in Classical History - in Vancouver, Canada. She is a second-generation Canadian with roots in Scotland and Wales. Some forty years ago she visited Belgium, fell in love with the country, and made it her home. She now speaks English, French, and Dutch. Nancy and her husband have two adult daughters and three grandsons. She sings in a choir, volunteers in the local community, and tells stories.
